Perception shapes the future of kayaks, one great boat at a time. In the '70s, Perception pioneered the first composite (plastic) kayaks. Since then, Perception's kayaks have led the industry with innovations like rotomolded hulls and Sonoma and Airalite technologies, which have opened the sport to a broader range of paddlers and fishermen. Although Perception kayaks began almost 30 years ago with just a few passionate kayak enthusiasts wanting to produce a better boat, today that same passion drives Perception kayaks to produce the best boats available and has made the brand one of the world's leading touring and whitewater kayak manufacturers.

Perception Access 11.5 Kayak ReviewReviewed by Nash from MI on Monday, September 11, 2023In short, don't hesitate, this is a great kayak and very stable and higher off the water line ( I'm 6'2 310 lbs :) ). I used to rent kayaks in the FL keys that were perception Access and Tribe (these are the most common two types at all rental places). They had the same stock for years and they take a beating but still do the job flawlessly year after year. I ended up buying a used 2016 Perception Access 11.5 last year (6 years old) and despite scratches and scrapes as expected over the years, it works great and no issues at all. I purchased a 2023 model Access this year from Sierra due to the discount off of MSRP (great deal) and now I have a second to use when family and friends visit (Great in Salt Water and Fresh Inland Lakes as well).

Lightweight and quick!Reviewed by Katie P from Florida on Wednesday, August 23, 2023I had a rhythm 11" Perception for many years, and foolishly sold it for a S.O.T....well that didnt last long and I'm back in a sit-in Perception with this Sound 10.5. I love this thing! It's easy to carry on my own, the handles are positioned thoughtfully for a 2 person carry, the paddle rest is superb, and the water bottle well/strap in the front fits my giant hydroflask. Big open seating position makes for a dog friendly paddle, too!
Grooves in the hull and in the rear make this a steady tracker, and speed is good for a short, wide kayak. It was outpacing my husband who was riding his Crescent CK1, which tracks and moves very well. Color me impressed, Perception!
Get yourself a carbon stemmed lightweight paddle and pair it with this kayak.
Also the tan color is very bland and I kind of love it. You blend in nicely with the environment. -

Handles well, and has a lot of potential for me to grow into skill-wise. Also, has a spot for optional rudder expansion, something I may consider as my skills grow!
