5.0 out of 5 stars. Pleasant Surprise

I have been doing some trail running so decided to invest in a pair of trail shoes. Prior to this, I have been a dedicated Brooks fan and worried that these shoes wouldn't work for me. Boy was I wrong. Although I haven't done much trail running since I bought them, I have done several road runs in wet and slushy conditions as well as some hiking. The traction is amazing and the shoes are really comfortable. It took me a minute to figure out the lacing system but LOVE the fact that I don't have to worry about laces coming loose during my runs. Also, I went up a half size and the fit is perfect.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Awesome trail shoes

I had a pair of the Salomon Speed Cross and needed a bit more support. These Fellraisers deliver. They provide some more support and structure yet are still lightweight. Note: They are not waterproof. Treads are just about as good as the Speed Cross treads.

I love these shoes! They fit great, super comfortable and are true to size and have great traction. Also, the pull laces are sweet, because they tighten evenly and securely. This is my first purchase of this brand of shoe, and I'm thinking it won't be my last.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Probably good, if they fit.

I read the reviews of this shoe, and really wanted to try them out. I run a lot of trails, and many of them are steep and muddy. The first pair I ordered, the site said the shoes run small, so I ordered a half-size up. When they arrived, it was immediately apparent that they were TOO LARGE. So I returned them for a smaller size. Even at one size smaller, they are still much too big for me. I generally wear a size 6 1/2 in trail shoes, the final pair is a size 6, but still at least one size too large. They don't make them smaller, so I guess I'm out of luck. If you know your European size, use that to order. I wear a 36, which is ordinarily a US 6, but the Salomon US size 6 is a European size 37 1/2.

    Great shoes, excellent support!
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great for mud, snow, and obstacle racing

This was my go to shoe during the rainy Bay Area winters as the trails get very muddy. Even though at times I had to take the mud off none of my other trail shoes (cascadia,, speedcross, lonepeak) could hold up to the mud as well. Now that I'm living in the CO foothills I like this shoe for running in the snow when spikes are too much. Here the trails are much more rocky and rarely muddy, I found myself bruising my feet in dry conditions so I rarely use them for everyday trail running. I have liked obstacle course racing in them though because you never know the conditions and they grip great for rope climbs. I like my running shoes about 1/2-1 sz big and wore my usual running shoe size in the fellraiser and I am happy with the fit.

About Salomon

The legendary Salomon outdoor equipment company was founded more than 60 years ago in the French Alps by Francois Salomon. After developing the world’s first self-releasing ski binging in 1966, the company continued to grow and innovate new products. By the early 1990s, the brand had taken the wintersports market by storm with Salomon skis made using cap construction, a totally new innovation at the time. Salmon boots quickly became famous for their balance of performance and comfort on the slopes. By the turn of the century, Salomon snowboards were helping athletes push themselves in the park and powder. Today, Salomon continues to be an industry leader, with products that range from skis and snowboards to hiking boots and trail running shoes.
