Very easy to hand wash on a multi-day trip. The elastic waist is comfortable and also has a button and zipper, plus the belt which is useful if you want to tighten the waist. Love the loose-fitting legs, which allow for movement without constriction. The main thing I want out of my hiking clothes is not to think about them when I am hiking, and these fit the bill perfectly. XS worked for me (loose fit) at 5'1" and 98 lbs.

They sit a bit below the waist, have elastic all around the waist & a belt. Although I wear a small in relaxed fit I need a medium in these. This is my second pair & they seem to be cut a bit smaller than my 1st pair but that's not a problem due to the elastic.

Living in Arizona, I need something the dries quickly and is super comfortable, especially in the summer. They fit well and have plenty of pockets. I use these shorts for hiking but can also put on a cute top and go to the store.
