5.0 out of 5 stars. Great, breathable waterproof jacket!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Portland, OR on Thursday, November 6, 2014I purchased this jacket to participate in weekend outdoor sporting events. It's only had one outing but it performed as expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Almost gave this 5 stars.Reviewed by Dylan from British Columbia on Tuesday, December 17, 2013My initial impressions is that this is an extremely well-made jacket for all-season mountain pursuits. I have no doubts about its claims to complete waterproof protection and superior breathability. I am 5'7" and 150 lb, and the medium fits me rather perfectly with adequate room for multiple thermal layers, while still maintaining great allowance for arm and torso mobility. I'm quite certain this will be the best jacket for the price I've owned for years to come.
That being said, I couldn't bring myself to give it 5 stars for two main reasons. First, I really wanted this jacket to have a two-way front zipper. Columbia put forth the effort to make the pit zips two-way, so I really don't understand not putting a two-way zipper on the front. This is a minimalist style shell, but how much does another zipper pull add...maybe an ounce? (They did after all put a two-way front zipper on the sequel to this shell, the Peak 2 Peak II shell.) Second, the hood has great adjustability and the sewn in wire brim is awesome, but the compression adjustment on the back of the hood is very difficult to release once it has been tightened. In fact, all three hood and both hem adjustment points are a little difficult to release without using both hands (would be even more difficult with any kind of gloves on). Again, they may have saved an once or two with this style of cord catch over the traditional spring-loaded catch, but I don't think it was worth the added hassle.
All in all, I'm more than happy with this purchase (especially at the amazing STP price...saved nearly $200!!). -
