Shoes are light, have moderate arch support. The toebox is hard around the edges, so make sure your toes don't touch the edge. I'm keeping them.

I do not consider myself a huge brand loyalty person, price usually supersedes brand...but I might become a columbia hiking shoe groupie.

I have trouble with shoes fitting because I need a roomy toe box though my foot is wide only across the toes. These fit well without being or looking huge (as many do when one wears a larger size). I actually did not like them in the picture, so ordered the grey ones in 9 1/2, but ordered the black ones in a 9---just in case. Turns out that I thought the black ones were much cuter (and fit much better.)

These shoes are it! I was so glad to find them. I have worn them half a dozen times walking/jogging with the dog and around town. They were immediately comfortable, no need to break in; the footbed is sufficiently padded. As the photo shows, the shoe comes up around the ankle a little more than some shoes but for my thinner feet and ankles this is perfect. I do wear them with ankle socks, but the features add up to a very good fit and comfortable, well-aligned walking. The toe and sides are also reinforced with a coating that protects toes and shoes; this is a sturdy but not huge layer of protection (in contrast to the brand of shoes that has the trademark toe bumper, which always looks so overly large in my size 10!). I hope STP will continue to carry shoes with minimal heels, such as this pair.

They're lightweight, fit is true to size, shoe is super cute and, best of all, they'really extremely comfortable from the first time I put them on. No blisters, no breaking in period....they're perfect !! Made my trip to Alaska more comfortable and enjoyable when it came to being outdoors !!
